Ultimate Warcraft Guide

In this day's age of one stop shopping, I didn't think I'd be in a position to one stop my WoW Guide! I'd been 'shopping' around for a good all inclusive WoW Guide for a long time, and just wasn’t having....   Read more!

Did this by accident when leveling up a new char the other day..
Queue yourself up for the BG at that battlegrounds top level restriction when your that level. example 10-19 (queue yourself up at 19) — 20-29 (queue yourself up at 29) — 30-39 (queue yourself up at 39)
Now go finish your level.. so if you joined the 10-19.. level yourself up to 20.. and when you get in.. you’ll be the level 20 in the 10-19 battlegrounds i think you guys get the point..
this only works once though.. if you try again it will put you in the proper level battlegrounds..

Alright, I decided to write this little ‘mini-guide’ because I keep hearing about people having problems with priest.

Priest is honestly not a hard class to play if you know how to play it right.

This isnt a guide to go out and kill Onyxia solo, this is for the average fight you encounter wherever, knowing how to start a fight properly, and knowing how to react to a sudden attack.

This really only applies to Soloing.

I. Starting a fight: This is for the times when you see a mob and have time to set up an attack.

1.Preparation
a. First thing you do is make sure all of your buffs are in order, Power Word: Fortitude, Inner Fire, Etc.
b. Pop on Power Word: Shield. Alot of people make the mistake of putting on PW:S after youve already hit the mob with your pulling spell..this is WRONG…so dont do it. Instead, turn on PW:S and wait until you have about 15 seconds left on it before attacking. Most mobs take down your shield within 15 to 20 seconds, this way your mana will have time to recharge plus, by the time the mob takes down your shield, you’ll be ready to pop on another one.

2. The Actual fight (first blow to last)
a. Many people start the fight with Mind Blast because it does the most damage and takes the longest to recharge, wrong. dont do it. Start the fight off with Smite…Yes you heard me, Smite. Nobody mentions smite in their guides because it takes FOREVER to cast. This is why you cast it in the beginning. The mob will then start rushing towards you. You want your second attack to be Mind Blast because you can cast it in the amount of time it takes the mob to get to you. From there you want to hit the mob with Shadow Word: Pain and start the DOT process. (If youre in a group, or taking damage at any point in the fight, cast Vampyric Embrace to get some health back)
b. So far your attacks should be (IN ORDER)
Smite
Mind Blast
Shadow Word: Pain
c. For the rest of the fight you want to cast in this order.
Mind Flay
Mind Flay
Mind Blast
Repeat.
And apply SW: Pain or PW:S again when necessary

II. Sudden attacks
1. Alot of the time youre going to get attacked by mobs that just spawned or ones that you didnt see. The outcome of this fight is dependant on reaction time…so the biggest tip is this. KNOW YOUR HOTKEYS. Quick reaction time can save you from certain death.
a. First things first, pop on Power Word: Shield. This thing should give you enough time to get the next couple of spells in.
b. Vampyric embrace, dont bother with Renew, Minor Heal, Flash Heal, or Heal, These take too long to cast and take up way too much mana. Rather regain health as youre attacking, your DOTs should bring you the amount of health that you need.
c. Shadow Word: Pain to start the DOT process.
d. From there just follow the steps in section 2 based on a normal fight.
Mind Blast
Mind Flay
Mind Flay
Mind Blast
Repeat.
And apply SW: Pain or PW:S again when necessary

This is really more of a guide to soloing than a group guide, its also entirely dependent on you being a shadow build.

PS: You cant cast Smite while in Shadow Form. Take that into account.

Its "very" special, but its so damn profit-yielding, that I want to share it with you.

It is possible to play 2 accounts at the same time if you play in window mode. Maybe you are in the same lucky position having a second account with a 60er from a friend or guildie.

Whats the point? Farm lbrs Vosh’gajin (T0 Rogue gloves) and Voone (T0 hunter gloves). In the auction house you get 150g and more for these every day … If you play the 2 accounts alone in window mode and find a way to farm these, the whole profit is yours. The first trys I needed over an hour only for Vosh’gajin. Now I get both in less then 25 min. With this I made over 2k gold in the last 2 weeks with less than 2 hours of work a day.

I play a t2 priest and a t2 rogue. Can bypass nearly everything with stealth / Mind Soothe / rogue pulls => priest runs without aggroing => rogue vanish. Use of mindcontrol in every group.
Maybe possible with warrior/priest, druid/priest, druid/rogue, druid/druid? I don’t know. Try it out. If you find a way with your combo you get rich ^^. Maybe you don’t even need t2, but for voone your tank/rogue needs at least 4k hp unbuffed cause he sometimes hits very hard with a double 2k dmg mortal strike to leather. A high dodge/parry stat can save the healer mana (my rogue has about 36% dodge).

edit: Made a small screenshotguide for you: http://img301.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lbrst0farming6yt.jpg

EDIT: 31.07.2006: Don’t farm this way anymore. I think, blizzard lowered the dropchance of both gloves A LOT. When I posted this it was like 1 glove of 2 runs, now its like 1 of 10. In addition you doesn’t get as much money for them in the AH now – something about < 100g. . It’s no more worth the time.

I wrote this exact post on my guild site, so if you recognize it from there, I guess you know who I am :)

Many people have asked how I have ground up my reputation with the Cenarion Circle so quickly.

My rep gains and notes may be off slightly. I had to try and recall much of it, and find stuff on the net. Please check your rep gains after each, to make sure you still get rep for dukes at honored for example (because you don’t at revered)

Neutral to Friendly (3000 rep)

I would suggest just nose to the grindstone killing Twilight Cultists and gathering sets of clothes and Encrypted Text. Don’t turn them in yet. Mail them to an alt and back to yourself if needed. (When I mail them back, I mail a cowl, robe, and mantle before mailing more of another type. Just to keep them together so I can grab them quicker from the bank)

Get in any group you can that is killing cultists, templars, or dukes. A little more rep, goes faster in a group, and is more fun than solo grinding.

Killing Cultists, flamereaver, or keeper 1 rep
Killing trash mobs in AQ20 3 rep
Killing a summoned Templar 5 rep
Killing a summoned Duke 10 Rep

Druids can gain faction points by completing theie quests to get Bear form, Cure poison, and Aquatic form. There is also one in Maraudon from Desolace gives faction points also. The quest for DM East from Moonglade can be returned for reputation, too.

Friendly to Honored (6000 rep)

Silithus quests and more grind killing of Cultists.
Killing Cultists, flamereaver, and keeper still gives 1 rep
Killing trash mobs in AQ20 3 rep
Killing a summoned Templar 5 rep

Abyssal Signets Quest, one signet 150 rep first
Abyssal Signets Quest (repeated), 3 signets 100 rep
Keep doing Encrypted Twilight text quest, 10 pages 100 rep

Don’t waste crests doing abyssal crests quest. Use them to summon dukes.

By the end A LOT of it is Encrypted Twilight Texts. Pages are now going for about 1g per page (Don’t pay more…work together to keep costs down), so 10g per 100 rep. That gets damn spendy, but worth it to me. Here is how I fund it;

It costs about 17g per Duke to summon one if you bought the mats yourself. If you saved and gathered mats from all you have done up until Honored you should have a bunch to get started for free.

The big money maker is the Abyssal (leather/cloth/etc) leggings of (striking/sorcery). I am getting about 100-140g for each set, and they sell well. I turn right around and buy Encrypted Texts with this money. About each 2nd or 3rd Duke drops a set. That way one pair of leggings turned into text pages works out to about 1000-1500 rep.

The signets have also been selling quite well from killing dukes. About 30g each on my server.

I keep an alt parked in UC. I send legs to him, he auctions, buys texts, and mails them back to cut down travel time. I also use him for some mats for Logistics quests. I had a hard time finding Heavy Armor Kits on AH, so I ground his Leatherworking up to 150 and make my own. If you need any I keep him parked there for that, and will make them at cost for any conventus member.

So early on Saturday and Sunday I was working hard for exhalted in AV and starting the long road to AB/WSG faction so I signed up for every battle ground then chose the one I wanted.

Of course I immediatley hopped into AV when it opened. Imagine my disappointment when the message "This battleground will close in 5 minutes came up". The 6 or 8 of us in AV quickly ran north to get the SH bunker, hoping more would join. Alas, the game ended and then I got the same reward I would have gotten if we would have lost: 125 faction for paying, 12 (maybe 6) per battleground and a token.

Now I’m on a loosing server so getting rewarded in AV so quickly was a JOY.

So my theory is that blizzard has a minimum of signups before it opens a battleground. Once the # of signups has been reached it offers each person the opportunity to join. The battle ground is committed to opening at this point. So if only 2 for WSG or 4 for AB or 10 for AV (example numbers) show up then Blizzard has to close the BG and gives everyone a thanks for playing.

I know you know this already. So why do you care? Because with a little planning you could get 150 av faction in 7 minutes. Do it 3 times and you got a set of tokens.

Here is a detailed plan of how to get quick AV faction:

1) You need to be on the less populated side of a server (most the times that is horde)
2) You need some accomplices to make this work. For WSG I think you need at least 5 people to start the game, for AB it is 7(?), for AV it might be 20.
3) You need all of you accomplices to join the queue early in the morning.
4) You need to hope the "other side" is lined up chomping at the bit to beat you down in your chose battleground
5) You need 1/2 of your accomplices not to join the BG or to drop out immediately.
6) You need to hang out in the BG for 5 minutes and hope it doesnt get busy.

And there you go!

A little fun with model editing.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

* 1. Launch MyWacraftStudio.

* 2. Open Patch.mpq.

* 3. Navigate to world/wmo/PVP/fence.

* 4. Extract these to your desktop.
The correct directory structure should be like this: world/wmo/PVP/fence . If you have to, you can create it yourself.

* 5. Open wmo.mpq . Find a small .wmo file and extract it to the same folder as above. Once you have extracted it, you need to rename it as follows:

Alliance fence – ArathiAllianceFence.wmo

Horde fence – ArathiHordeFence.wmo

The files with 000 in them, delete!

* 7. You should now have something like this: world/wmo/PVP/fence and 2 files in that directory. Now, just move the whole World directory to your World of Warcraft/data folder.

* 8. Log on and enjoy.

/ignore XXXX

where XXXX is the name of the person of the opposite faction
If the person is online the ignore will go through
If the player is offline, you’ll get the ‘Player Not Found’ error

Its quite a simple way to make money in my opinion and on my server have been making a lot of money with this idea. It wont work on all servers though as your economies etc will be different but its worth a couple of looks in the AH to check…

Basically just buy cards from the AH (Beasts, Warlords, Elementals and Portals) i would stick to the one that you can make the most money from at first. Bid on the cards when they are cheap or BO when they are cheap and usually you can get the 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 for about 100g (on my server and if you arent rash with your money) this is the easy part. Next you need to get the ace (Beast’s ace is hardest simply because of the drop rate or cost, about 300 for beasts) Once you have all the cards create the deck and put it into your bank and wait untill the few days before the faire arrives…its at this point which everyone starts buying up cards and decks (because its the only time you can use them) and put your decks in the AH (no more than 1 of each deck at a time) and sell for the highest price you can on a server. You should be making about 200g per deck and you get get 1 deck every week (of each 4 type) if you can afford this. This means you could (server permitting etc) be earning about 600-800g a week with practically NO effort.

In short – Have enough gold to buy all the cards in a deck…buy them…make the deck…sell in AH appropriatly…make lots of gold.

I have gone from 400g to around 1600g (i have only been doing this a month) without any additional grinding aswell as buying items and keeping a deck for myself.

Tips : Beast’s deck almost on every server is the most expensive…mainly becuase of the ace being a 3% drop from a UBRS boss (the beast). If you estimate how many runs will down this bloke a day you will realise you will only see 1/2 of these in the AH a week….

Be carefull when starting to buy the decks…just write down how much the deck will cost you to make…and how much it sells for otherwise you could end up losing money.

You need to have money to start with, sadly the old saying "it takes money to make money" is true…but its a good way to avoid any more money grinding.

I appologise is this idea/method has been mentioned before but i couldnt see it and its an excelent way to make money….enjoy!

1. Basics
————————–
Who?: You and the Buyer
What?: Fishing stonescale eel for money
When?: Real time, or even while your sleeping.
Where?: Azshara, Tanaris, or Feralas (Feralas is only for emergancy =p)
Why?: FOR MONEY!

2. What do I need?
—————————
i. It’s required that you have a HIGH level of fishing, probably 225 or above. Having a high fishing level helps you fish faster, and more efficiently.
ii. A fishing pole would also help, Im using a "Big Iron Fishing Pole" (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=2950). This is VERY handy, but is a rare find.
iii. A safe spot to fish, also hidden. This helps when your either on a PVP server, or if you just flat out don’t want to be seen when using the Fishing Bot.
iv. And the fishing bot, which can be found under (on the left) – Quick-Strat Forums < Hot Strategies < WoW Stratagies < Quiet Knight’s Fishbot.

3. How much do they sell for?
—————————-
i. For a stack, I can usually get 8-10g. A stack consists of 20 Stonescale eel, and per-night I was coming up with 3-5 stacks.

4. Why do they sell for so much??
—————————–
i. The reason these Stonescale Eel sell for so much money, is because they make REALLY nice potions. These potions are called "Greater Stoneshield Potion". These raise a person’s armor by 2000 for 2 minutes. That’s like holding a shield for 2 minutes with the use of a potion. (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=23418) – These sell for 3g EACH on my server … (Cenarius, maybe because we’re so gready )

5. Easy things to make money even faster.
—————————–
i. Try to sell them through the "Trade" channle of your City/Zone. And tell them to "PST" to make that money on-site.
ii. Try to sell the fish for less then the AH, and TELL your buyer this, he/she will be persuaded even more towards your offer because of time and money saving.
iii. Sell at peak-hour times on your server, this should probably be 5-7 O’clock PM. This should be because people are getting back from work, and it’s before dinner.

I hope that this doesn’t spoil my chance for making ALOT of money =p, but I want the game to be "equal" ; ) – and every1 should have the same opprotunity.

Some items in the game are limited (ie. you can only buy a certain amount from the vendor, then you have to wait for them to respawn). I’ve only tested this on single limited items (vendor only has 1) but it’s worked for me the last 4-5 times I’ve done it right, and I assume it would work for the multiple limited items if there’s only 1 left.

Basically all you do to setup is talk to the vendor and open up your bags. Then you right-click the item you want to buy, then quickly drag the item to your backpack (both are acceptable ways to purchase an item). If you do it fast enough you will be able to get 2 of them even though the vendor says they only have a limited supply of 1. If you do it too slow it’ll say "The item not found". It’s also easier if you have large bags because then you dont have to drag the item as far to buy it right after you right-click it.

*Edit* Does seem to work better with some lag as huka speculated.
