Ultimate Warcraft Guide

In this day's age of one stop shopping, I didn't think I'd be in a position to one stop my WoW Guide! I'd been 'shopping' around for a good all inclusive WoW Guide for a long time, and just wasn’t having....   Read more!

Ok most every player should know by now about the felwood foods. Whipper root tubers, night dragons breath, windblossom etc.
They are very handy in pvp and pve as the whippers and night dragons are on seperate timers from regular healing potions so basically u can heal yourself for 1750(major healing)+900(whipper)+450(night) for a whopping total of 3100 health. they are also only on 2 minute cooldown. The best part is they are free!

Well i found that if u find a plant with the food in it, u open the the dialogue box(after cleansing it if needed), zoom in so there is minimal distance between the message u click on and the plant. left click the message to get the food as normal, then quickly right click the plant again. about 50-75% of the time if u did it fast enough another dialogue box will appear and u can do it again and get double food.
Not sure if this has to do with a laggy server but it works all the time for me on destromath and illidan(both fairly high pop servers). Im not sure if this was ever posted so i figured i might as well spread the word. Ive been doin it for a couple months now and i can easily got 100+ whippers in about 30-45 mins(after farming for soul shards to get the plant salves). Ive actually gotten it to work 3 times on one plant before as well. Also im not positive but i have a feeling the plants become corrupted when they sit out too long. Ive actually ran back and forth for an hour gettin the plants as they spawn and 95% of them werent corrupted so i didnt have to use any salves.

This is in no way a new strategie, but I havn't seen it listed anywhere. I find this particularly useful on a lvl 60 character, as you can simply go afk and let your skill rise :)

Step 1 - Fly to Netherguard Keep, Blasted Lands.
Step 2 - Travel to 42,30ish where you will find mobs of humanoids. One of the mobs is called a "Servant of Sevine".
Step 3 - Clear your way to the servant, and agro the servant.
Step 4 - Kite this mob back to netherguard keep, and move it into the southern tower.

Here you must lose agro, and let the elite guards inside the keep tank the mob. Once you have lost agro, you are free to hit the mob, and go afk whilst your skill rises. If you are familiar with the quest involving these mobs, then you will know that you have to cog a crystal for the mob to die. Obviously there crystal is not cogged, and so the mob stays on 1% until a GM decides to despawn it :) (which usually takes 24hrs+ due to the obscure locale.) I'm sure you could pull the mob elsewhere for horde, although I am unfamiliar with the horde camps in that area. I would imagine you could do the same thing by kiting the mob to the horde camp in the south of the Swamp of Sorrows.

Guilds 101 (Wold of Warcraft)

Every MMOG that has ever been made have had forms of player associations. From Planetside’s outfits to Star Wars Galaxies’ PA’s; it has been a form of encouragement for player rivalries and competitions.

World of Warcraft’s guilds are created quite simply by typing /guildcreate [guild name]. That wasn’t so difficult now was it? Moving right along, the guild’s ranks are the following (In ascending order):

5) Initiate
4) Member
3) Veteran
2) Officer
1) Leader

Officers and Leaders are able to remove members from the guild. The Leader’s ability is to be able to disband the guild or change the ranks of others.

Here are a couple of guild commands:

/g – sends a chat to guild members
/ginfo – information about your guild
/o – officer chat
/ginvite <player> - invites the player to join
/gremove <player> - opposite of the above command
/gpromote <player> - promotes a player in the guild (rank-wise)
/gdemote <player> - the opposite of the above command
/gmotd <message> - sets the MOTD. This can be viewed with /ginfo
/gquit – quits the guild
/groster – the who’s who of the guild
/gleader <player> - sets a new guild leader
/gdisband – disbands the guild

One of the coolest features of a guild in WoW is to be able to wear tabards. Tabards go over all armor. They hold the guild’s symbol and has to be purchased by the guild master (leader) at the right NPC. It costs 10 gold and cannot be changed.

Options available to change in the tabard are:
-Icon
-Icon color
-Border
-Border color
-Background

2 Skin of Shadow (Drop - http://thottbot.com/?i=21577 )

Libram of Protection
Hand in: Lorekeeper Lydros - Dire Maul
Reward: +1% to dodge
1 Pristine Black Diamond
2 Large Brilliant Shards
1 Frayed Abomination Stitching (Drop in Strath and anyone who's done a Baron run will know about these)

Libram of Rapidity
Hand in: Lorekeeper Lydros - Dire Maul
Reward: +1% haste to attacks (ranged/melee)
1 Pristine Black Diamond
2 Large Brilliant Shards
2 Blood of Heroes (ground spawn in WPL/EPL, spawns 1-2 60 elite ghosts)

From a quick glance it looks to me that the Dire Maul quests just aren't worth it, not unless you know where to farm Pristine Black Diamonds (and if you do know… SHARE THE INFO DAMMIT )

To get the plants for Voracity & Constitution:
A: http://thottbot.com/?q=1240
H: http://thottbot.com/?q=1087
Basically kill a lot of trees in the cave at Felwood 56,17
You get given a lantern to help with the second part.

The quests are called "Salve via XXXXXXXXXX"
A: http://thottbot.com/?s=Arathandris+Silversky
H: http://thottbot.com/?s=Maybess+Riverbreeze
There are different ways to get the hand in items for the second part… I chose hunting to make life easy and just farmed the Deadwood guys in the bottom SW corner of Felwood (also good for Timbermaw rep).

Then you have to find the plant and use 3 salve on it… then just pick up the item from the now uncorrupted plant (I got 9 Whipping Root Tubers than 8 tubers from the plant in the Jadefire Felsworn / Satyr camp west of the Emerald Sanctuary).

(the above Libram information was all collated by me from sketchy resources)
(ps no I'm not back writing guides for MPS.. this is just something I've already done elsewhere and thought you'd like it )

So you decided to enter the vast kingdom of Azeroth? You may wonder
how do I level? How do I make money to afford gear and skills? How do
I use the interface that they provide? Well here is a guide to follow!
Just follow some of the simple strategies I've laid out for you and
you'll do just fine!

# Part IX- Using the Interface/Controls-

World of Warcraft has a very easy to use interface, I have found out
of all interfaces I've used World of Warcraft has been the easiest to
adapt to! World of Warcraft also uses a WASD(First person shooter
movement) style movement for easy adaptation after clocking in long
hours of Counterstrike. They have it in clear view and your not going
to need to read the manual to get started with this game!
# For your UI, I suggest grabbing a UI mod such as
http://cosmosui.org which I am 100% comfortable with.
Cosmos is easy to use and legal to use unlike most UI modifiers in
other games. While using cosmos they have incorporated adding a second
bar for the mages and priests out there who just don't seem to have
enough space!

* Cosmos has incorporated games into its UI also so while
your traveling or waiting for a buddy to sign up you could play a
little Tic Tack Toe or Four in a row.
* For the fishers out there (great for making money) They have
incorporated a easy fishing which you right click to cast and fast
cast which you will cast as soon as you reel something in!
* For my Healers out there, they have a HUD (Heads up Display) that
keeps you current on your team member's health and your health so you
don't have to glance to the left side of the screen.
* For everyone they have put in a mod that tells you your experience
per hour at your current level, you're current experience per hour
this session. It also tells you the average time till next level after
collecting the data from everyone else that has completed that
level(Must be using most recent version AKA alpha not even beta which
crashes a lot just to warn you).
* You can also upload your equipment profile to thottbot (
http://www.thottbot.com ) to view it online here is
Stifler's(http://thottbot.com/index.cgi?p=Stifler.Bleeding_Hollow]
<a href="http://thottbot.com/index.cgi?p=Stifler.Bleeding_Hollow" target="_blank">http://thottbot.com/index.cgi?p=Stifler.Bleeding_Hollow</a>) I do
not use this mod due to how it is unstable at times when looting a new
item and can bog down your system performance.
* Last but not least one great reason to get cosmos is for /gotocorpse for those of you lazy like me I hate making a corpse run! Cosmos incorporated that neat little command which will run you to your corpse for you!

# The regular UI is also great for those of you who are scared of using a UI modifier. It is also easy to use and is easy to set up for those who have never played a MMORPG and may have stuck to FPS.
# The regular UI has basic components which include the Action bar, the Character portrait, the Experience Meter, latency bar (Ping), and the mini-map.

* The Action bar which is used for casting or using certain skills is located in the lower left hand corner of your screen. For quick casting use keys 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0,-,= or basically the top row of your keyboard! I suggest memorizing where you put what for convenience while in battles.
* The Character portrait can tell you important things like your current health and Mana/Rage/Energy which is very important while waging your epic wars so you do not have to make a corpse run!
* The experience meter is another great thing that World of Warcraft has in an extremely convenient place. Whether you’re about to log out and you want to check how much experience you have to go before your next level or your mid run it is only a glance a way no needing to open up your character screen!
* Then you have the latency bar, not much to say but this can quickly decide if it is worth staying on! Green is for go in my mind, yellow is for okay but take caution and red is for forget it I’ll be on xbox if you need me!
* Last but certainly not least you have the mini-map, first let’s look at the word mini which means small and map which means basically an object used for navigation. The mini-map doesn’t take up your whole screen and make it easy to follow group members.
* Wrap Up-Make your UI work for you not the other way around, Cosmos is a great interface with a lot of ways to customize it!

West and North Dire Maul

East Dire Maul is not included because a trained monkey can do it

Materials needed for a full run on West and North;

Crescent Key (gotten in EDM), 2 rune thread, 8 rugged leather, 4 Rune cloth bolts, 1 Thorium Widget, 1 Frost Oil

Getting to Dire Maul

Get to Theramore, and fly down to Feralas. Once there head east, stay off the main road because it runs through a horde town (you can easily avoid by hitting the water) once past the town hit the road and follow it east. Dire Maul is located almost in the middle of the zone, once you’ve found it head north into it.

Now you don’t have to fight you’re way into DM, most of the mobs have a very small agro radius, so just dodge out of the way. Follow the passageways until you come to a T crossing. Go right, and head across the passage way you should see a door, go through and you come into a big green courtyard. From here you can access East, West, and North. Also you can mount up here, so do so.

West Dire Maul; Need Crescent key or a rogue

Ok, first you need to clearing the large wandering tree elementals. These can be banished, and they do have a knock back effect.

Once all the trees have been cleared move into the middle, you will see a large pylon with elementals about it. You need to clear all of them; they use arcane missiles, have a small blink, but not much in the way of HP. These can also be banished. Once all of the mobs have been killed continue out of the middle and go right.

You will a passageway leading off to the right (at this point people will be screaming to kill the named, don’t worry you’ll be coming back). Watch out of invisible ghosts, these not to hard (See invisible is great here).

You should see an open doorway that leads to a large room full of ghostesque mobs, with a ramp leading up. You will be clearing the mobs in the middle and right hand side. They can silence so keep you healer/spell casters back. Once the middle and left is clear, hug the right wall up.

Now at the top of the ramp you will find some wandering ghosts, its best to kill them and save you’re self some hassle. Now face down the ramp, you will want to hug the right hand side of the railing. Watch out for the two caster mobs, they can be a pain. Follow round until you hit a wall, at this point you should see another pylon. Just do the same as before.

After pylon two AoE the skeletons, carry on over the bridge. Invisible ghosts here again, only a few. Grab the quest, and hit the far side. Pylon number three, rinse and repeat. Now you may find a wandering NE female and her pet bear. Off tank the NE female (she’s a hunter and uses varying shots) and kill the bear first (he charges).

Ok back to the middle of the bridge, and drop down onto the ramp below. Dismiss pets before hand or wipe central. The tree boss is a straight forward fight, he is also used in paladin epic if that’s an issue.

Down into the main courtyard and through the door. Invisible mobs again, just clear through until you come to the main chamber. You will find wandering patrols of storm elementals that need to be killed. Key is to banish the main one, and kill the lesser ones who don’t have that much HP. If no warlock, the big one can be off tanked easily enough.

At this point go left and clear pylon 4. Careful not to agro the mobs that wander around the central area. Go back to where you came in, and go right clear pylon 5. The main area is now accessible.

The fight is straightforward, just kill the eyes he spawn as they can be annoying. Now go leave the central area, and right from where you came in is a door that leads to the library. You will find a place to repair and buy drinks here, also Mooncloth Robe Pattern is available at 4 gold.

Under the ramp you came in is the prince, he hits fast but not overly hard. Once he is dead return to the quest NPC at the top for hand in. The reward chest is under the ramp in the library, by all accounts the mace sells for 7 gold.

This is West Dire Maul done, if you wish to make the most of the situation I would recommend doing North right after.

North Dire Maul

Ok in the corner of the library is a passageway that leads to North Dire Maul, follow this up. Once you reach the top of the passageway, hug the railing to the right. What you’re going to do now is to make life easy for you’re self. There is a ramp in front of you, you will want to run up it and left out of the instance, purely a time saving tool feel free to kill the ogres.

Now the overriding factor in North is NOT to kill the varying bosses you meet. The reason being, the more left alive at the end the more loot in the tribute (chest you get after killing the king).

If you do not have a rogue or an engineer you will need to go back down the ramp you ran up of and hug the right wall. Clear the dogs and continue round, you should see a named ogre. He has a key you need, once dead back out of the courtyard to instance start. If you have a rogue with 300 lock picking don’t worry

Facing out from instance entrance go left, watch out for the patrol of an ogre and two dogs. Dogs see through stealth. Clear the left area, and go up the first ramp you see. There are a few wandering patrols, its best to kill them off in case you wipe later on.

You should see a raised courtyard area, and a ramp. Clear up the ramp and be careful of adds (often best to pull down the ramp). Once this area is secure, you will notice a wandering named guard, try not to kill. Once he is safely away, grab the key from the chest in middle, and head to other side of courtyard and down ramp to locked door.

Once in the passageways look out for wandering Eyes of Zomm, they summon in two 60 elite elementals. Clear down the first passage way to the bugs, AoE these. Now you will see a set of ogres with pets to you’re right and a gnome with a quest marker. Also a wandering guard, and a broken trap on the floor. Pull the set of mobs around the fire. Then use the Thorium Widget and Frost Oil on the broken trap, this will freeze the named in place. Carry on around the corner, there’s a set of mobs in the corner but they can be safely ignored, and clear the set of mobs next to the ramp.

The gnome gives a quest for the ogre suit (you did bring the parts listed above right?) but you missing Ogre Tannin. Up the ramp and do the same again, and once more in the corner. In the corner is ogre tannin basket, looting tannin causes a mob to spawn and rush down the ramp, an easy kill

Return to the gnome and get you suit, then its back up the ramps. At the top ramp, go left and kill the two ogres at door. Carry on through and kill the other set of ogre. Now suit up and talk to the captain, only one person needs do this. He will rush off, and won’t agro other party members.

Now clear the right hand two mobs, pull them into tunnel to avoid adds. Hug the right wall, pull the dogs making sure that the patrol of dogs is no where near by. For the best result also pull dogs into the tunnel.

Now from the right wall cut across the courtyard to the broken ramp in the central ring. If you haven’t done so kill the patrol of dogs.

King fight is straight forward. Off tank the observer, making sure not to kill him, also keep him away from the king as he will heal him. The king hits hard, so have the healing ready. Have had a paladin tank him with a priest healer, and a warrior tank with a druid healer so nothing is needed. Once the king is dead, the observer becomes non-agro.

Loot the king, and hail the NPC that ran in. Talk to him twice for tribute, make sure everyone has the king buff and head back to the start, talk to the guards on the way for a 120min buffs. You will find the captain on the way, talk to him to receive a quest.

Return to the library, and behind were the prince was, is a chest. Return the gloves to the captain for you’re reward.

This is North DM done.

FAQ

Q. Why don’t we killed the named in North?
A. The more bosses left alive when the king dies, the more loot in tribute. With all alive, 3 blue items

Q. We did north but can’t get the chest behind the prince, what do we do?
A. In order to access the chest you need to kill the prince, this is done by freeing the Immotar (clear the 5 pylons)

Dire Maul (DM) Tribute Run Guide

After reading a few guides on this, and realising (when it is to late) that they have errors I decided to do an Auxilium Guild Guide to the Tribute Run.

Trap repair Items
1 x Frost Oil – Made by Alchemist
1 x Thorium Widget – Made by Engineer

Gordok Ogre Suit Items
4 x Bolt of Runecloth – Made by Tailor
8 x Rugged Leather – Gathered by Skinner
1 x Ogre Tannin – Found in Dire Maul Instance
2 x Rune Thread – Purchased from Vendor

Group Formation
1 x Healer
1 x Tank
1 x Rogue (with 300 lockpicking) *
1 x Mage (mainly for sheep)
1 x Any
* If you are unable to find a rogue then you will need Crescent Key from DM East, and the Gordok Courtyard Key from DM North or a stack of Powerful Seaforium Charge

Important information
Do not kill any of the Bosses, they start with “Captain” or “Guard”. when you kill the King, they will all pay a tribute to their new King (well 5 kings), and each of these items it better than the loot you get from killing them.
The Gordok Courtyard Key will disappear if you leave the instance.
Watch out for the eyes when inside the inner instance

Heading to the instance
You don’t have to fight any of the mobs on the way, all can be walked passed, however keep in a group just in case one aggros. When you get to DM follow the only way you can until you come to what looks like a T-junction. At this part you are heading right and then Left almost straight away (there is a Small Arched doorway to go through).

No you are in the ‘Broken Commons’, you want to be the opposite side to where you are. I know that you don't have to fight anyone if you go right and follow it round, just be careful. You will find a door that needs the Crescent Key.

Inside the instance
Kill the mob that you will be able to see from here, and wait for a couple of pats to pass, as they do pull them back to where the instance entrance is and dispose of them.

Head to the left pulling them and killing until you have reached the corner. You should now be near a separate room that has a slight ramp up to it and a large raised rectangular part in the middle.

When you head in to the new area, be careful of more pats; take you time, pulling and killing. Head to the left and get to the corner. You will now be able to see a ramp up to the Rectangular platform, A “Guard Boss” will patrol that area, and he comes down and he turns right, walks up to the corner and then goes back. Be careful of him, if you do aggro him, run to the instance entrance while leaving a member there to ensure he does not stay at the entrance waiting for you (That member will die).

You will need to go where the boss does, so, head that way, pulling mobs out of the “Guard Boss” patrol area. Keep following the path round until you reach a door on your Left.

This door requires The Gordok Courtyard Key which is in the middle of that raised platform. If you have a rogue send them up to loot the box (via the ramp you passed). It does not have to be a Rogue but if you do not have stealth then just be very careful and keep an eye out (by doing this now, you can still leave the instance if you aggro the “Guard Boss”)

Inside the Inner Instance
Head in and clear the mobs, including some bugs which need a little AoE lesson. You come to a room where you can see a Broken Ice Trap, hang back for a bit. A “Guard Boss” will patrol this area; he will walk right over the Broken Ice Trap. You will need to pull the mobs that a by the fire and pull them far back so they do not get the “Guard Boss” on you as well, if this bit goes well it is all down hill from here (Apart form the King).

When the “Guard Boss” walks away quickly fix the Trap with 1 Frost Oil & 1 Thorium Widget. Then move back and wait for the idiot of an Ogre to activate the trap. He will now be like that for the remainder of the instance.

The Goblin by the Fire can make you a Gordok Ogre Suit if you have all the bits, more often than not you will still need the Ogre Tannin.

Kill the mobs you can see around you, and head round to the ramp which leads to the next level. You will need to clear this level of all mobs, which is only a couple of groups. Once you have done that heal up and rebuff, as when you loot the Ogre Tannin (BoP) a semi-boss will come down, he is not hard as long as you have rested.

Whoever has the 4 Bolt of Runecloth, 8 Rugged Leather, 1 Ogre Tannin & 2 Rune Thread can head back to the Goblin and make the Gordok Ogre Suit. I would recommend that you all go down in case one of the eyes’ turns up. Once you have it head up and clear all the mobs away from the Door area.

Kings Area
Head through the door and clear the mobs until you reach the “Captain Boss”. At this point use the Gordok Ogre Suit and have a little chat with him, he will run back the way you came, so be out of the way when you start to talk (I am unsure if you can aggro him, but better to be safe than … … … dead). Also do not waist the opportunity to see an Ogre dance, whoever has the suit on should try a few emotes’ as they can be quite funny.

OK almost there. Head on to where you can see some mobs, basically clear them all, as you may need this room to fight the boss. The dogs can all be aggro’ed at the same time and then AoE’ed.

Boss Fight
You want to keep his add alive as this will improve the Tribute loot, however he will heal the king, so if you can Ice-Trap the add, or Pull them away from each other it helps. The King can hit very hard so keep him on the tank. This should not be a big problem, but having a Lock with SS will help. If all goes well you will not have the Boss to loot and the Gordok Tribute

Notes
So that’s it, I have not described how the group should dispose of most mobs as you should already know that, nor have I mentioned (in-detail) how to handle the King as it will depend on the group.
